Darts 2s (not a 2nd team just a label!) W3 D1.

Darts 6-1 Beccs
Early season rustiness and coaching worries the lads were not ready for a festival were playing heavily on our minds today. Welcome to U10s rugby, mauls, rucks and scrums - even a Vet coach of many years was concerned.
After an Eddie Jones style 2 ball "thinking"warm up and the usual 2 players arriving 1 min after KO off we went.
They started we smashed their biggest kid, Austen cleared the ruck and some beaut hands saw Zach scamper over after 20 secs - what were we worried about?!!! Beccs to their credit have some of the nicest best / coaches around and their boys stuck at it but were blown away by route 1 big boy hit it, ruck it rugby. Almost perfect start - conceding 1 (nod to EJ - never satisfied)

Game 2
Darts 1-1 Sidcup
After an inspired pre-game speech by coach Teefy "its sidcup, smash them" and walk off (maybe the technical side of things should've been analysed more) an inspired Sidcup side (they only bought one wasn't mixed!) really put us thru our paces and we were hanging on at 1-0 at half time. Turnaround and a few subs saw a belter of a second half. One of theirs "scored" on the 5 yard line and while they realigned on half way Josev Smit (our new Polish prop) did what props do and ignored everyone bar the ref and ran the thing 40 yards straight back at them!! Nip and tuck followed with a blatant cheat knocking the ball from Tarrant Jnrs hands over the try line going unpunished and inspiring the lads to collect for one last mammoth effort v the old foe - cue a 20 phase try of the season contender superbly finished by Tom "Hula boy" Cherry claiming a deserved share of spoils
Darts 3-2 Elthamians
Roll on the hosts. Your roving reporter was a little riled by this game so sorry for lack of details. Jonah did a superb barnstoming run knocking over every player from their team on route to a Ben Kay moment over the line. It's not his fault obviously as his Dad has been working with him on ball retention so fingers can rightly be pointed at Big Tel. Anyhow Pizza Hut beckons Jonah and the ref gave it anyhow so who cares! Dan Selley deserves some huge credit on this game for listening well and seeing the gaps on the wing and showing the boys there's a bigger pitch than smashing it up the middle (really?!) We were 2-0 up at the break and took the foot off he gas - their last score however was a peach - purely for the sight of 5 darts sprinting after a lost cause in the dying throes to keep it at just one score for them! #whatsalostcause?!
Darts loads-weatcombe park 1
I lost count. Saw Tarrant score 2, Austen 3 and Hula Tom a couple, including a cringeworthy dive that even had mum hiding in shame. We had to have words about showboating. Zach then scored a pearler and repeated said awful dive / celebration! What happened to a manly handshake eh?! Anyhow we were way too good for a spirited Park side and the ref even asked if he could give a triple movement consolation to cheer them up ("of course" said the ever gracious coach)!!
Highlight of the game was a Farrell-esque style pass from Austen to Tom for me. He had scored 3 already and saw 2 defenders coming - he waited, straightened the line and got absolutely smashed whilst flighting a perfect pass to Tommy to go over. We were 8-0 up at the time and to ensure the team scored rather than go yourself (he woulda made it no probs) was outstanding.
Honourable mentions to Matt S who found an immense sidestep and was a brick wall in defence, Noah Fay who played the best I've seen him and smashed the living daylights out of anyone stupid enough to go down his channel (including a tip tackle that made me and probably everyone in Samoa / Tonga purr with delight - it wasnt a pen!) and Matt M who although new to the game had some lovely offloads and took the ball up really well, Tom Day also passed well from phase 1 and got the boys going forward well. I hope I haven't missed anyone....!!
One festival done, Pat the lads on the back tonight folks a brilliant team effort.

Thanks to all parents etc Boys were ready to play and I didn't have to shout / whine or tell any of them off once.!

As requested - Fiercely competing on the pitch and example off it.
