Angels keep Blackheath honest

Home or away Blackheath is always a tough fixture. They are always well drilled, but the Angels made sure they didn’t have it all their own way.

The Angels, a blend of young and less young, with the usually amount chopping and changing decided on a simple tactic.

Keep it simple.

And keep it simple Darts did. In the early exchanges the Angels maybe pushed too hard. Good work and territory was undone by some loose passing. Blackheath were able to counter and take the lead.

Darts battled back. Run hard. Kick to corners. Get into the danger zone. From this hard work Darts scored through some trickery by Magic Gav Dixon, creating chaos in the 22 and the ball bundled over from close range.

Darts continued in the same vein, but Blackheath managed to nudge themselves in front leaving a half time score of 14-7.

The second half Darts planned to continue in the same fashion. Unfortunately things didn’t quite go to plan. As mentioned, Blackheath are always well drilled and they made this count in the first 20 minutes of the second half. They grabbed some quick scores to take the game away from the battling Angels.

In the last 20 Darts regained some spark. Having the last laugh taking the final points of the game.

Honourable Mentions: Lucas Cassem played well in both the front and back row. He carried hard.
Riley Horner was his usual self on the park, taking over captaincy in the second half.

Darts Selection POTM: Christian Broadfoot for his running, last ditch tackling as well as being deployed out of position, not that it showed.
