ROCHFORD HUNDRED LADIES vs DARTFORDIANS WOMEN

First game of the New Year took our women away to Essex on a very fresh Sunday in January.

It was agreed that we would play to Game On principles due to low numbers, but we were determined to get legs on the pitch after the Christmas break. Rochford Vixens had a top turnout with their squad of 22 and we fielded a team of 12 players to take them on. Last time out at the Vixens beat us 40-7 at our ground so we wanted to show them what we could do playing away.

The score line did not reflect the work that the women put in. Rochford are second in the league and their drills and speed let us know why they are so highly positioned.

Our women worked hard and there were some great work rates displayed by the forwards on the pitch.

Our women battled well, as they always do and were elated when we got a try in the second half scored by Ciara and converted by Sarah, a first for her. She nearly converted the kicking tee into something else as well, think we may need to invest in a new one!

We had a debut from Parveen who played exceptionally well and a mention for Ana-Cristina who stopped a lot of their runners.

Post match hospitality was enjoyed by all and Rochford always have lovely words to share with us about our women which is lovely to hear.

With more numbers we may have well gone on with a higher score but an entertaining and valiant effort from all and this can be seen in the images that have been uploaded - smiles from all.
