Darts entertained Colfes

Darts entertained Colfes in their league match who were depleted due to injuries but the home team filled in the gaps and a full 15 a side match started . Darts were strong in the scrum and a strike against the head by Megan allowed the ball to be quickly moved to the backs where Lizzie in the centre scored under the posts, Ewa converted.7-0. Continued pressure from Darts who were taking the ball on strongly in the forwards and backs pushed Colfes back into their 22 and it was Innes who crashed her way through tackles to score the second try. Ewa again converted. 14-0. The pattern of play continued with Darts setting up their pods and tying in the visiting defence and strong runs from Emily D and skipper Lola again created the space for Lizzie to score her second. Ewa adding the 2 points. 21-0. Despite some very brave defending by the entire Colfes team and when Holly came into the line she was tackled just short of the line but her momentum took her over the line for her first try for the club and again this was converted by Ewa. 28-0. All the Darts players were looking to get their hands on the ball and they were just sharper and more powerful against a young side who were led from the front by former Darts player Aimee. Faith and ramat were very strong both in attack and defence and held the line together when Colfes were having their best spell of the match and when further forward drives moved play back into the Colfes half it was Faith who went over under the posts. Ewa again converted 35-0.
The team was changed in many positions in the second half as Darts made sure that all their players got game time and players who represented Colfes in the first half were drafted back into the home side. This caused some disruption as players got used to playing in a different system and this allowed Colfes to exert some pressure but Darts were very organised and strong in defence and kept the visitors at bay.faith made a great run deep into the Colfes 22 and after a couple of phases skipper crashed over for the final try of the match. Ewa completed a clean sweep of conversions .42-0.
An enjoyable match and the young Colfes side showed some good skills and great spirit and when back to full strength will be a tough side to beat. Thanks to all the Darts girls who played for the opposition as without you the game couldn't have been played. Good performances throughout the squad with all players showing a good continued improvement and there were a number who were in the frame for player of the match but in the end it was Emily Denman who was given the award for her all round performance with and without the ball.
