Dartfordians U18 Girls made an impressive start to their National Cup campaign with a commanding performance against Sutton & Epsom, showcasing powerful forward running, improved handling and slick attacking rugby.
From the opening whistle, Dartfordians were firmly on the front foot. Miley opened the scoring after sustained pressure, before further tries from Amelia and Seren, with Anna adding two points to the latter, gave Dartfordians an early advantage.
The forwards continued to dominate, creating space and opportunities across the pitch. Miley crossed for her second try, followed by scores from Orla, Kasey, Chloe and Kitty as Dartfordians' attacking play gathered momentum. Another successful conversion from Anna helped extend the lead, with Dartfordians heading into the break firmly in control.
The second half began with more of the same. Darcey crossed for another try, converted by Amelie bringing the match to an official early conclusion under the competition's 50-point margin rule.
Official result: Dartfordians 50–0 Sutton & Epsom
It was a hugely encouraging opening to the National Cup group stage. The strength of the forwards, improved passing and fluid link-up between forwards and backs provided plenty of positives, while the number of different try-scorers highlighted the team's attacking threat.
There is more rugby to come in the group stage, but Dartfordians have made a confident start and will look to carry this momentum into their next National Cup fixture.
