On a pitch where green was almost impossible to find, BASSDARTS produced a performance of control, power and precision to defeat Bull Oaks 50–0 and seal the title as U18 Kent Champions away from home.
With standing mud across large areas of the surface, handling was always going to be a challenge. The ball was caked with mud within minutes and early exchanges were tight, scrappy and played almost entirely through the middle. Penalties interrupted the flow as both sides adjusted to the conditions.
But once BASSDARTS settled, their intent became clear.
First Half – Pressure Turns to Points
After sustained pressure deep inside the Bull Oaks 22, the breakthrough finally came. Camped on the five-metre line, the forwards drove repeatedly before Martha powered over for the opening score. Anna added the conversion for 7–0.
The territorial dominance continued. Smart decision-making with both boot and hand kept Bull Oaks pinned back and another period of relentless forward pressure saw Martha crash over again. With Anna once more accurate from the tee, the lead extended.
Moments later, Martha completed a superb first-half hat-trick, finishing off collective work from the pack and backline alike. Anna maintained her perfect record with the conversions.
Half-time: 21–0
It was a half defined by immense tackling, disciplined structure and intelligent rugby in extremely difficult conditions.
Second Half – Ruthless and Relentless
Bull Oaks introduced fresh legs after the break, but it made little difference to the momentum. Eloise struck early, finishing confidently after strong build-up play. Anna again converted.
A special moment followed as Phoebe and Hannah returned to the field after lengthy layoffs — a testament to squad resilience and depth.
With confidence flowing, BASSDARTS began to move the ball superbly despite the heavy pitch. Eloise added two further tries, showing pace and awareness out wide. A quick-thinking snipe from Amelie extended the lead further and another well-worked score brought up the half-century.
Defensively, the side were outstanding — every tackle landed, every lineout contested and Bull Oaks were kept at bay throughout.
Full-time: 50–0
