Match Report: Dartfordians U16 Girls vs Medway U16 Girls - Kent League

Reporter Nick Tremain.

It was a wet, windy, and downright miserable day pitch-side, but that didn’t stop the Dartfordians juggernaut from powering through yet another league game in Division 1. Despite the conditions, Dartfordians proved why they are top contenders, dominating the game from the first whistle to the final blow.

**First Half Highlights:**
Dartfordians set the tone early, with Miley crossing the line in the opening minutes. The swirling wind and rain made kicking difficult, so no extras were added, but Dartfordians quickly got back into gear. Chloe V’s dynamic break set Tash up for a brilliant finish in the corner, with Anna converting to make it 12-0.

After a brief halt for a Medway injury, Dartfordians were straight back at it. Martha’s steal from the restart unleashed Chloe V for another score, and moments later, Martha herself powered through to set up Maia for a try under the posts. Anna added the extras, extending the lead to 24-0.

The substitutes came on and made an immediate impact. Chloe S, returning after a long layoff, joined the action, and Hannah soon followed. Martha continued her dominance with another try from a lineout steal, bringing the score to 29-0. Despite Medway's best efforts, Dartfordians kept piling on the pressure, with Ife crossing the line after a scrappy passage of play. Anna slotted the conversion, bringing the score to 41-0 by the 22nd minute.

A few more changes saw Izzy, Kasey, and Sienna join the fray as the Dartfordians pack continued to overwhelm Medway in the scrum. Medway managed to kick clear on occasion, but Dartfordians were relentless. Holly rounded off the half with a try from the restart, converted by Anna, to take the score to 48-0 at halftime.

**Second Half Highlights:**
The weather worsened as the game resumed, with scrappy play from both sides due to the treacherous conditions. Leia replaced Holly, and Dartfordians kept pushing forward. Maia made a fantastic break to the 22, and although the wind played havoc with Anna’s kicks, the team’s attacking intensity didn’t waver.

After more scrappy exchanges, Caitlin broke through for the final score of the match, with Anna adding the extras to make it 55-0. The referee called full-time shortly after, with Dartfordians celebrating yet another dominant performance.

**Post-Match Thoughts:**
This victory showcased Dartfordians' depth, teamwork, and ability to adapt to adverse conditions. Despite the weather, they maintained their composure, executed their game plan, and continued their unbeaten run in Division 1.

The team’s ability to win the physical battles in the scrum, steal lineouts, and capitalize on loose play highlights their versatility and determination. With this result, Dartfordians firmly remain at the top of the league standings, and their momentum shows no signs of slowing.

Thank you to all the supporters who braved the weather to cheer the team on—your energy from the sidelines was invaluable. The Dartfordians juggernaut rolls on! COYD!
