This afternoon was perfect in the sunshine, for fast open rugby, which is exactly what the girls produced

Db's playing right to left with the incline in their favour in the first half.

Still a little sleepy from their journey down, DBs kicked off, the ball was quickly passed to their winger, a young lady who has earned her county place this season, who blistered down the wing to score in the first minute or so. The kick was unachievable for their goal kicker and TWs led 5-0.
DBs woke up and after a prolonged period of pressure, the ball squirted out to the ever reliant Ciar, who powered her way over for her first of her hat-trick. The conversion saw DB’s slide into the lead. 5-7.
After collecting the kick off, DBs managed to produce some fine skills, a break through the line and Lizzy used her turn of pace to go over, 5-12 to the DBs, the resulting conversion by Aleisha made the score 5-14.
A well gathered re-start by TWs bore fruit when another of their rising stars, Louise scored to narrow the gap, 10-14.
The next attack came from DBs after a 5 metre scrum, DBs played with a girl down in the scrum but the power of the pack meant that it was unnoticed, the front row of Lola, Lucy and Ciar, supported by the second row of Emily and Georgia were more than capable. The ever present Ciar popped up for her second. DBs Aleisha converting to add the 2 extra points, DBs leading 10-21.
A further try from open play brought the score to 10-26, with the final DB’s try of the half bring the score to 33-10, however TWs showed why they had held us so close in the opening game of the tournament with a reply just before half time, the score reading 17-33. One final piece of action brought the thrilling half to a conclusion, one of the TWs pace setters was chased by Lizzy, our remarkable wing put in a perfect low tackle to bring her down, no problem with the technique, however the young lady suffered a knock to the head, but was confirmed OK after the game.
The second half kicked off and some nervous mistakes led to scrums and a lineout around half way. TWs burst through and a well executed off load resulted in TWs getting another try to bring their score to 22-33. TWs managed another try and the gap narrowed to 27-33.
DB’s struck back through Hermione and opened the gap to 27-38. Both teams managed a braced of tries each to bring the final score to 37-50. A thoroughly entertaining game played in good spirit was enjoyed by all spectators.
Great effort from all players including those who fought valiantly in defence, Gemma, Kitty, Evie and Izzy who punched well above her weight. Special mention to Aleisha whose kicking pulled us through and was spectacular. It was right that she praised all the players for their grit and determination in her post match speech.
Bring on the return fixture.
