This weekend the U7s have been entered into the Foxbury Festival at Old Elthamians RFC.

The full address is Foxbury Av/Perry St, Chislehurst BR7 6HA.

Please can you aim to be at Old Elthamians RFC for 9:45am and ensure that your child has a Dartfordians RFC rugby shirt and appropriate shorts, socks and footwear in which to play.

There is no on-site Parking at the location and so each club has been requested to park in a specific location. Dartfordians RFC have been asked to park in Perry Street which is the main road between the A20 and Chislehurst. Access to the ground is via Foxbury Avenue. Please ensure that you adhere to any parking restrictions and don’t park on footpaths or grass verges unless instructed to do so by a parking attendant as it would be a shame to spoil a great day out with a parking ticket for causing an obstruction. Everyone is encourage to car share where possible as the fewer cars the better. This also helps us to be more environmentally friendly.

There is an entry fee for each adult of £3 per adult (Child entry is free). You will receive a programmes in return and the monies collected help pay for the hire of equipment and pay for trophies, first aid etc.

The programmes will contain all details of the day’s events, festival rules and point systems, codes of conduct for players and parents and other important information for participants and spectators. Please remind parents and club coaches to purchase a programme; there’s lots of information in there that we’d like to communicate to all visitors and the best way to do this is through the programme on the day.

The format of the day is that each group has 5 teams, playing 4 round robin matches. All players will get to play and get an opportunity to experience playing in a festival. The winners of each group will then play for the Cup and the runners up in each group will play for the Plate. There will be trophies for the winners and runners up in each of the Cup and Plate competitions. This is with the exception of the Under 7’s who will not have any finals – theirs being “champagne rugby”. Each Under 7 participating will receive a medal at the awards ceremony. As usual pitch marshals and referees will be giving players, coaches and supporters of each club a score per game on “fair-play”. This will be accumulated over all the group games from all of the age-groups, the Club deemed to have won the fair-play award will be presented with a trophy.

All the finals are expected to be completed by 3.00 and all participants and spectators are encourage to try and stick around for all the presentations as the players love getting their awards in front of a big crowd.

Please also ensure that you gather up all your rubbish and place it in the bin-liners provided.

Photography:

Old Elthamians recognise the need to ensure the safety and well-being of all the youngsters playing in the festival. As a part of this commitment the taking of photographs will be permitted only within the guidelines laid down by the RFU and Kent RFU. Old Elthamians reserve the right to challenge any adult taking photographs during the festival whose activities appear in any way illegitimate.

Old Elthamians have also appointed DE Photo as the Professional Sports Photographers for this event.

As the weather is expected to be sunny and in the mid twenties, please ensure that your kids are suitably protected (hats/sun cream etc) and please ensure that your kids have plenty of water to drink during the day. Although refreshments will be on sale, a packed lunch may also be a good idea. If the weathermen have got it wrong and we have normal weather for this time of the year please make sure that they are protected against the elements .... whatever they may be!

The U6s and U5s will have training at the Club as normal on Sunday from 10:00am to 11:30am.

I hope you all have an enjoyable day.
