What a weekend, the girls from across the ages, U15 and U18, attended an adventure weekend away..............read on

We all gathered in Brentwood, yes North of the Thames, to test our commitment to Darts.

Friday evening saw the girls on a wooden toboggan track followed by team games. It was great to see youngsters enjoying themselves without having to gaze gormlessly into a screen. Laughter and banter filled the air. The team games were hotly contested but in the usual sprit of fair play and fun.

On Saturday the girls were challenged to build rafts, (which actually floated) and then race around an island on the lake. Some were more successful than others but all floated and all got very wet. A handsome fayre of jacket potatoes and Bear Grylls style food was concocted by Justin who excelled in the kitchen in the absence of our usual chef Keeley who took over kitchen duties on a busman’s holiday.

Further team games testing intellect and strength helped the girls to problem solve in teams. They were not allowed help from the adults, which was a good thing because they were bemused at the prospect of the challenges.

Saturday evening was rounded off with a camp fire, plenty of songs, toasted marshmallows and further fun.

On Sunday there were further challenges for the girls who may not have had the usual 14 hours of sleep they enjoy at the weekend. Crate Stacking was a fantastic team game, helping to develop good core balance. The girls proved again that teamwork resulted in enjoyment.

There is little doubt that this type of activity will enhance the spirit of our girls and ought to carry on to the pitch, supporting each other and giving encouragement. Our girls section is in rude health and will continue to flourish, encouraging others to join in the fun for the future of the club
