So Foxbury entertained Dartfordians yesterday in what they described as an event for Champagne rugby - And Dartfordians certainly delivered!!!!!

As all the other teams were frantically running around getting themselves prepared for their matches Dartfordians prepared in the true Dartfordians way by sitting in a giant tractor tyre, throwing acorns at coaches and bundling each other.

This was obviously the team spirit that spurned us on for the day ahead.

We played Beccs first and after a slow start we scored 2 great tries running in to the open space and supporting each other running with the ball and offloading when needed to bring the game level only to see our 1st game end in defeat after Beccs snatched a last second winning try. Final score 3-2

Colfes stepped on to the pitch with their strict coach and we knew this would be a tough game however after conceding a soft try we came back at Colfes to gain a lead after some strong defensive work to turn the ball over and excellent strong running from our pitch full of speedsters. However the Colfes coach had obviously embedded “No Mercy” in to his under 7s and saw 2 tries run in before Darts were set ready in defense(yes sour grapes). Final score 4-2

It was only a matter of time until a team were on the receiving end of a Dartfordians hiding and unfortunately Beckenham were there to play their part.
This game saw everything click and the boys were now understanding why we have been getting them up early every Sunday to run around with an odd shaped ball.
Looking like the New Zealand All Blacks Darts ran in 7 tries and blew away a Beckenham team who to their credit never gave up. Final score 7-2

Last game of the day saw us play Sevenoaks and boy did we want to win!!!
We can at them fast and really put them under pressure and silenced the Seveonaoks support when a Dartfordian seemed to scuttle under the mob of players to score in the corner.
We played a good game and scored 2 tries in the 2nd half but unfortunately Sevenoaks piped us to the win with a scoreline that did not reflect the game. Final score 5-3

I was extremely nervous that we would not have enough numbers for the day but was absolutely amazed when my final count saw 18 Dartfordians do their team and and families proud with the performances that they put in.

Most were playing their 1st games and others were even in their 1st month of rugby.
A great achievement and it was fantastic to see that the players have taken most that they have been taught each Sunday.

A big thank you to the mums and dads for bringing the kids down as without you we would not have a team to field.

I have certificates for the players who attended Foxbury so I will bring them to Upminster this Sunday(separate email to come through) and to the club the following week.

If you have any pictures and are happy to share them around please feel free to do so and we could possibly put them on the club website.
