The U17s seven’s squad reached the Final of the Kent Plate 7’s tournament yesterday. The day started off with a game against Cranbrook where we scored first however only managed another try before losing to the eventual winners of our group. We then went on to beat Westcombe Park followed by Folkestone, finishing second in the group and going through to the Plate. The semi-final saw us put in a strong performance against NAG/Vigo and beat them without conceding a point. In the final we came up against the hosts, Ashford, who fielded a physically strong team and then played route one rugby to take advantage of that. This and the efforts our players had put into the previous games took their toll enabling Ashford to enjoy a well earned victory.
All in all we exceeded our expectations going into the competition and had a throughly enjoyable day. Well done to all the players, everyone put a great effort in and there were both some great team tries as well as individual ones.
