What a way to finish the 2025–26 season. After a year of welcoming new teammates into the squad and seeing huge progress in development, teamwork, and enjoyment of the game, the boys were finally rewarded for all their hard work by lifting the Tour Cup. While results in the Waterfall tournament had not always gone our way during the season, this weekend showed exactly what the team is capable of.
Phase 1 – Saturday
Won 2–1 vs Horsham 1
Drew 0–0 vs Haslemere 1 in the wettest and most tense game the team has ever played
Won 10–0 vs Hackney
Phase 2 – Sunday
Won 6–0 vs Esher
That victory secured a place in the semi-finals, with nerves beginning to build. In a tight contest against Horsham 2, a single try proved enough as the team battled to a 1–0 win and booked their place in the final.
The final brought a rematch against the same Haslemere side we had drawn with the previous day. In much drier conditions, it was another fiercely competitive and physical encounter between two excellent teams. We started strongly, scoring twice in the first half before Haslemere responded midway through the second. Our defence held firm under pressure, securing a superb 2–1 victory and the tournament title.
This report deliberately avoids singling out individual try scorers or standout performances because every player contributed. The team attacked with variety and confidence — powerful carries through the middle drew defenders in before the ball was moved wide to the wings, while clever play from the scrum-half, fly-half and centres created opportunities back through the middle.
Defensively, the team was outstanding throughout the tournament. Strong tackling, relentless effort, and teamwork limited opponents to just two tries across six games.
Most importantly, the squad remained united from start to finish. Coaches and parents were incredibly proud not only of the unbeaten run, but also of the way the boys represented the TREDS values — celebrating success with humility and respect.
The weekend ended with huge smiles, tears of joy, dancing on stage, and the lifting of a massive shiny trophy.
A huge thank you goes to everyone who helped organise such a fantastic tour, including all the extra social events that made the weekend so memorable. Special thanks must go to Minis Boss Ed and U12s Tour Director Natalie for all their hard work in making the tour such a success.
