Fellow Dartfordians, some of you know that we are trying to sell our house in
the Dordogne. Due to the present circumstances this may take some time and
meanwhile the place could be vacant for several weeks during the summer
and autumn, which seems a terrible waste. Therefore, if any of our chums
from Darts would be interested in staying there for a modest rent to cover our
running costs please get in touch.
It is situated 17 miles (25 Minute drive) to the south east of Bergerac Airport
which is served by Ryanair from Stansted, British Airways from London City
and Flybe from Southampton. BA is best but the service is limited and
sometimes expensive. Our village has a Michelin star restaurant and an
excellent local bar / restaurant run by a Racing Metro 92 supporter and his
wife, both very friendly and English speaking (not fluent). If you buy a drink
you can use their swimming pool! There is also a boulangerie in the village
and the nearest supermarket is a 5 minute drive away.
The house has two bedrooms and can sleep 6 but is probably best suited to a
family of four or one or two couples. It is not a villa and has no garden or
pool but there is a partly covered courtyard. The ground floor is open plan
and is very well equipped. English and French TV channels are available,
plus radio and dvd player with plenty of cds and dvds.
The area is very picturesque with lots of chateaux and bastides (fortified
villages) within easy reach. I can provide lots of information if required,
including details of local restaurants and other amenities, including rugby
clubs.
