Although Darts haven't been a 7's club for some years a side entered into the enjoyable Well Hall 7's on Saturday 19th May. The squad consisted of Dan Phillips, Liam Bowmer,Ricky Phillips, John Colmer, Liam Bolger, Mike Briggs, Joe Wheeler Matt Randall,Tom Griggs, Joe Austen and Richie Hope.
The tournament started in fine weatherand we faced the Multiple Scoregasms in the first match which was a close affair in the first half but darts came through playing some fine stuff winning 26-12. The second match was against the Bandits who were beaten 48-0 but the guys worked hard against us throughout the game and were beaten by a combination of youth and fitness. Our thrid match was gainst Hastings and Bexhill who looked like a proper 7's team and although they were nervous about playing us they had far too much nouse in the art of 7's and ran out easy winners 36-12. Our enthusiasm wasn't dampened by this set back and we went on to beat Avondale and Askeans 2's by 44-0 and 52 - 0 respectively. Again in both of these matches youth and fitness played a part but the boys really had started to play some good patient 7's rugby. We now entered the Quarter finals against Beckenham who also looked a good side. With a last minute try we managed to take this into golden try extra time and unfortunately kicked off and conceded a try immediately.Dan Phillips (13) John Colmer(7)were the main try scorers.
