The Demons travelled to Dulwich

The Demons travelled to Dulwich to play their fifth league match of the season having started to get a strong nucleus of a team however following a strong performance against Beckenham Tyler Roberts gained promotion to the 1st team allowing Harry Wilson to make a guest appearance. Liam Brencher was also back playing after a lengthy injury and Matt Seal was playing his first game of the season. Darts started the match with pace and intensity and after some good passages of play centre billy Wilson cut a good line and crashed over under the posts Tom Mothersole added the conversion. Darts continued to pressure and a great driving maul saw them go over for a second try and it was Harry Wilson who was on the bottom of the pile to get the sore. Mothersole again converted. 14-0. Darts were playing their best rugby of the season and it was a break from Harry Saunders who then popped the ball to Craig Curley who powered over to further increase Darts lead. Mothersole again converted. The rain was coming down hard and this contributed to a number of knock ons but the Demons pack with a front row of Garrett Wilson and Cary was dominating their opposition. Darts fourth try was a great individual effort from Liam Brencher who fielded the ball well within his own half and set off on an excellent run beating four defenders before outpacing the full back to score the try. Again it was mothersole who converted It was all Darts but Alleynians hit back just before halftime when they scored from a cross kick which was taken on the full by the winger to score and then convert. Half time 28-7
The half time talk was to shut out Alleynians in the third quarter and to play the conditions however the opposite happened when the home side scored two converted tries and a drop goal from their fly half who was controlling the game.. The score was now 28-24 and too close bearing mind the dominance of the first half. Skipper Tom Ball pulled the side together and the team shut the game down in the way they should after halftime. The pressure was now again on the home team and following a good catch and drive from the lineout Joe Cary drove over for a try only for it to be disallowed as the referee was unsighted. this was a shame for our Frank Carsen as it would have been his first try of the season. This was a great response from Alleynians in the second half but Darts were happy to win their fifth league match of the season in an ugly fashion and remain in contention for the title.
There were great performances all round especially from Steve Garrett at Prop and Nat Grant-Hines in the centre but man of the match went to the Red Setter Craig Curley for his commitment to the tackle and tireless work in the loose.
