Darts Demons travelled to RBS for their opening league match

Darts Demons travelled to RBS for their opening league match of the season and were strong in attack straight from the kick off. RBS were tackling well while on the defensive but Bradley Roper turned over the ball and offloaded to young Archie Wiles who set off on a good run. Tom Peryer in support from the wing took the offload and scored the opening try under the posts. Tom Mothersole converted. 7-0. Harry Wilson was throwing well at the lineout and Archie and skipper Tom Ball were winning good line out ball However it wasn't all one way traffic and RBS came back strongly and their centre cut through the middle to score under the posts and convert. 7-7. Lee Kernott was carrying strongly and broke through two tackles and off loaded to Jake Taylor who scored again under the posts to make it easy for Mothersole to convert. 14-7. Darts were now pinning RBS back in their own 22 with good strong running from Harry Saunders and Lee Kernott and combined with props Joe Cary and young Steve Garrett dominating their bigger opponents were going to score again. When Bucko picked up at the back of the s rum and took the ball on he was well supported by Harry Saunders who with another good offload gave Tom Mothersole the opportunity to score and then convert his own try. 21-7. Another great bit of play from Harry Saunders turning over ruck ball sent Archie Wiles on a good run and with a lot of the game being down the left hand side of the pitch he offloaded to veteran Dan Phillips who scored Darts fourth try. 26-7. With pack dominating Darts won a strike against the head and Brad Roper made a break then passed to Tom Peryer who beat two players to score. 31-7. RBS hit back when again their centre broke through the middle to score their second try. 31-14. Archie Wiles like all good opensides pounced on a mistake by the home side and scored under the posts. Mothersole converts. 38-14. Following a good break by Jake Taylor the ball was moved through the hands brilliantly under pressure and it was prop Dan Coshall who gave the final pass to Dan Templeton who scored the final try. Another conversion from Tom Mothersole for a final score of 45 -14 and a good opening to the league season.
Harry Saunders back after an absence of a year was man of the match with great driving runs and winning turnover ball.
