On the first weekend in February

On the first weekend in February following St Brigids Day the Demons embarked on a challenging away fixture against Cliffe Crusaders set against the coastal backdrop of Kent. The stage was set for a clash of rugby Titans with both teams eager to aseert their dominence on the field. Cliffe with their formidable lineup of strong carriers and imposing figures sought to get on to with brute force. Conversely the Lemons opted for the more expansive approach utilizing wide passing and dynamic running rugby to unlock the home defnce. The early exchanges were intense with the Lemons drawing first blood through an opportunistic intercept by George McClachlan setting the tone for the match., Despite an almost comical attempt at celebration the Lemons surgd forward scoring a total of 10 tries throughout the game. The try scorers for the Demons showcased the teams diversity and attacking prowess with contributions from Riley Horner, Charlie Williams, Callum Lockwood Pickles, Navi and the irrepressibleKay " Reverend " Green who notched two tries to his name. Unfortunately the conversion attempts proved to be a challenge for the team with only one successfully gliding its way through the posts amidst the gusty conditions. Whils Cliffe managed to muster four tries of their own securing a bonus pointin the process. The match was slightly overshadowed by some instances of poor sportsmanship that marred the match, however despite the contentious moments th spirit of the game prevailed with both team sleavingb their grievances on the pitch. In arare moment of indiscipline the Lemons Captain JOB found himself in the referees notebook receiving a yellow for foul play.. Nonetheless the match concluded with The Lemons emerging victorious their brand of enterprising rugbyproving too much for their coastal adversaries to handleAs the finalwhistle blew the Demons celebrated a hard fought victory showcasing resilience and camaraderie that defines rugby in South East. Despite the challenges and controversies the spirit of the game remained unblemished leaving both teams with memories to cherish and lessons to learn as they continue their respective journeys.
