Demons ease through their firstpre season against Vigo

Darts Demons opened the season with a pre season friendly against local rivals Vigo and dominated the four twenty minute sessions with a young side. Peter Essien making his debut for the side showed his considerable potential by scoring the first two tries after some great work by the backs giving him space to use his pace and power. Not to be outdone Tom Peryer on the other wing scored the next two tries again showing his strength and speed as well as the experience he has gained from playing first tem rugby despite still only being in his early twenties. Tom Mothersole who came in at scrum half converted three out of the four conversions. Vigo came back in the second period scoring a good converted try but Darts had two sin bins when they let themselves down with a lack of discipline by back chatting the referee. In the third session Mothersole capped a fine display with a good individual try which he converted and then Essien scored his third try again converted by Mothersole. The final session saw Darts regain their shape as well as their discipline and as the visitors tired Dan Coshall came on and scored the seventh and final try to end a good start to the season.
Peter Essien was named man of the match for his hat trick making it 7 in two matches this season .
The team looks forward to a successful season under the new direction of Neil Hubble and Paul Gills and next week face RBS in their opening league match.
