The Angels took on Swanley led by Mike Brent and Riley Horner

The Angels took on Swanley led by Mike Brent and Riley Horner and started really wellgoing straight on the attack with forwards combining really well but the visitors defence was really strong not missing any one on one tackles and organising themselves strongly. Mike Beent went on a really strong mazy run deep into the oppo 22 but was well tackled and Bryn Rhodes went over in the corner but was just in touch. The Darts forwards handled the set piece really well despite being far smaller and props Lewis Lovesey and Nathan Fairburn were very solid. In the lineout there was a great leap by George " Shagger " Harris stealing the throw and the ball was spun quickly from Matt Moon to the backs and when Mike Brent straightened the line he set the defence before passing to Alex Ball who scored the first try. 5-0. Darts attacked from the restart and moved back into the Swanly half. Another great steal in the lineout by Shagger was then popped to Joe Johnson who raced in from 40 metres. 10-0. Another great move from Darts nearly gave the Reverend Kay Green a try but the final pass was slightly forward. The Swanley defence continued to be strong but it was a great piece of play from Joe johnson who nicked the ball in the lineout and took play into the 22 and then when Aidan Greally took it on towards the line quick recycling the ball was moved swiftly to Alex who scored his second try and then converted. 17-0. Matt Moon and James Matkins at half backs were distributing the ball ro our strong back line and both Mike and Riley were making good ground giving space for the rest of the backs to make ground. Nat Grant Hinds working in th back row and it was another great tackle that stopped the score. Another steal in the lineout by Joe pushed Swanley on the back foot and then the space that gave Mike he went over the line and converted his own try. 24 - 0 at half time.
The second started in the same vein as the first with the forwrds taking the ball on with Nathan Callum and Lewis all involved and again it was Joe who took the ball from the lineout and set the ball up before the Reverend went over . 29-0. Max Coo came on the field and slotted well into the backs adding his pace to an already dangerous backline. Bryn and Aiden were doing lots of strong work against the big Swanley forwards and when they won a scrum 15 metres out the backs moved the ball to Alex who scored his third try. 34 - 0. There was alot of strong running from Nat but when Swanley stole a good ball in the lineout and makde 40 metres Darts were on the defensive and could get reorganised and despite desperate tackling good ball retention from the visitors eventually created the gap for them to score a great and deserved try. 34-5. Darlington who hadn't received much ball in space had been good in defence and was now getting ball in space and his pace and size was causing a problem for the visitors, The forwards pushed play deep into the 22 and from a ruck quick thinking from the Reverend saw him pick the ball up and run in from 10 metres. Riley converted, 41-5. Immediately from the kick off Darts put another attack together and after the backs moved the ball slickly Alex was put in th clear an a nicely timed pass gave the ball to Darlington who then took on the last defender and score under the posts. Matt Moon converted. Despite the score Swanley continued to try and attack and again it was good ball retention aligned with strong running that rewarded them with the final score of the match. 48-10.
A great performance by a young Angels side with the player of the match award going to young Alex Ball who not only scored a hattrick of tries and created another put in a number of telling tackles.
