Darts Ring the changes

With the 1st round of the Kent Waterfalls fast approaching the coaching team were looking to use the friendly hit up against Tunbridge Wells to try some new combinations and experiment with some positional changes.
After a pre match team dance off and some slick handling drills the girls were ready to take on a Tunbridge Wells who always give us a good game.
Playing 4 x 12m the game kicked off & Darts had the lions share of possession & territory and drove deep into the TW half. Despite some solid runs & rucking from the Darts girls the Tunbridge Wells defence stood firm and few chances went begging. The whistle went for the end of the 1st quarter with the scores nil – nil.
The 2nd quarter started at brisk pace with the TW defence was tested time & again and again as Darts pressed hard for territory & possessions. Eventually after strong carries deep in to the oppo half coupled with some aggressive tackling & counter rucking the Darts girls saw their efforts rewarded with a couple of well worked but hard won tries.
The 3rd & 4th quarter saw the girls start to cut loose and the scores came at a fair lick. Whilst TW battled hard the forwards started to work in their pods and the backs really got the moves flowing. The highlight of the game came after some inspirational inter play between Joannie, Lillie & Lucy cut the TW line to ribbons and a fantastic team score was the result.
Thanks to Martin for Tunbridge Wells for his excellent reffing and assisting/coaching the girls as the game played out. Well done to the TW girls, the result didn’t reflect their efforts in attack & defence & Darts know they will be ready for us next time we meet.
A great team performance and some excellent individual contributions today, our wingers getting their hands on the ball far more than previous games which was really pleasing to see.
Forward of the Week was Molly R. for her commitment in the contact and carrying hard. Whilst Molly is fairly new to Darts she has been a great addition to the girl’s squad and grows in confidence every week.
Back of the Week was Lillie for some searing runs in open play and some important defensive tackles. Lillie has graduated to the U14’s from our U12 girls last year and is thriving with the extra room playing on a whole pitch provides.
Player of the week was Kasey for stepping into the pivotal role of fly half at fairly short notice and grasping the opportunity with both hands, running the game like she’d be doing it for ages, bravo!
A great performance from every single girl today played in good spirit.
Bring on the Kent Waterfalls next week. COYD
